THERAPY

Therapy for Young Children

50 min session - £140

When working with young children, I understand that they may struggle to express their emotions and challenges verbally. Early intervention is key, and I offer two tailored therapeutic approaches, depending on what will best support the child’s development and emotional needs.

  • For younger children, it may often be more beneficial to focus on the parent, providing them with the tools and techniques to support their child’s emotional growth. This approach allows parents to learn the necessary skills to help their child without the child needing to directly participate in therapy. By tapping into the deep and influential child-parent bond, this intervention helps parents create meaningful, long-term change and strengthens their relationship with their child.

  • For children who are ready to engage in therapy, I use play therapy and other child-centered methods to help them express their emotions, build resilience, and develop healthy coping strategies. This child-focused approach provides a safe space for children to explore their feelings through play, art, and storytelling, helping them navigate emotional challenges in a constructive and supportive way.

Both approaches are designed to create lasting, positive change—whether by empowering the parent to effectively support their child or by directly helping the child develop emotional tools and coping skills for life.

    1. Anxiety (e.g., separation anxiety, social anxiety)

    2. OCD (obsessive behaviours, rituals, rigid behaviours)

    3. Behavioral issues (e.g., tantrums, acting out)

    4. Trauma (e.g., parental separation, loss, abuse)

    5. Adjustment difficulties (e.g., school changes, family changes)

    6. Emotional regulation (e.g., frustration, anger management)

    7. Difficulties arising from neurodiversity (e.g., difficulty fitting in, communication struggles, social issues)

    • Play Therapy: Using play as a medium for children to express themselves and process emotions.

    • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for Children: Helping children recognise and change negative thinking patterns in an age-appropriate way.

    • EMDR adapted for children EMDR can be extremely effective when adapted to use with children, using play to aid processing difficult events.

  • Parents will be closely involved in the therapy process, and I provide regular updates and guidance on how to support their child’s emotional growth. The focus is on building trust, safety, and understanding, making the therapy a positive and supportive experience for your child.

“Through the play therapy process, children come to understand that their feelings are valid, their thoughts are important, and that they have the ability to make choices that empower them. Healing starts with a strong, supportive relationship.”

Therapy for Young People

50 min session - £140

Adolescence can be a challenging time, as young people navigate changes in their emotions, relationships, and identity. Therapy during this phase is a powerful tool to help teens develop the emotional resilience and coping skills they need to face life’s challenges. My approach with adolescents is tailored to their unique experiences, focusing on fostering trust, understanding, and a safe space for self-exploration.

  • I work closely with teenagers to address a range of emotional struggles such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, and trauma. Therapy provides a confidential and supportive space for them to talk openly, explore their feelings, and develop practical strategies to cope with life’s pressures. Through a blend of evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and narrative therapy, I help adolescents gain a clearer understanding of themselves, improve their emotional regulation, and make healthier decisions moving forward.

  • While individual therapy is often a key focus, family involvement can also play a vital role in supporting the adolescent’s progress. I work collaboratively with families to address communication issues, strengthen relationships, and create a supportive environment at home. This family-focused approach helps ensure that the adolescent feels understood and supported both in and outside of therapy.

    1. Anxiety and stress (e.g., social anxiety, academic pressure)

    2. Depression and low mood

    3. Low self-esteem and identity issues

    4. OCD and intrusive thoughts

    5. Trauma and past experiences (e.g., bullying, abuse)

    6. Family conflicts and relationship struggles

    7. Difficulties arising from neurodiversity (e.g., difficulty fitting in, communication struggles, social issues)

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helping teens identify and challenge negative thought patterns that affect their emotions and behaviors.

    • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): A powerful technique to help adolescents process trauma and distressing memories, reducing their emotional charge.

    • Narrative Therapy: Assisting young people in rethinking their personal narratives and developing a stronger sense of self.

    • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): Focusing on solutions and goals to help teens take actionable steps toward improving their lives.

    • Mindfulness and Emotional Regulation Techniques: Building tools to help manage stress, anxiety, and emotions in healthy ways.

  • Therapy is a safe, non-judgmental space where your teen can explore their feelings, learn coping skills, and develop a greater sense of control over their life. I work closely with both the adolescent and their family to ensure the therapy process is supportive and helpful in creating positive changes.

"In therapy, adolescents begin to see their story with new eyes. They find that through relationship and connection, they have the power to heal from past wounds and to build a future where they feel seen, heard, and understood."
